The major service milestones that an engine reaches are the 20 Hour Service, 100 Hour Service, Summerizing & Breakout. I know most of you are asking yourself the question, "Why do I need to do this? I will run it until I have a problem". Well, engines in a saltwater environment are totally different from engines in a fresh water environment. Salt corrodes & wears metal, plastic, everything that it touches. Add to that the harsh sub-tropical sun and humidity and you have a recipe for problems if the correct maintenance is not done to your boat engine.
O.K., so I hear you saying that there is probably a need for some level of service. So how do I know what I need? The first question I ask is, do you have an hour meter for your motor telling you how many hours you have run the motor? If not Cedar Bay Marina would be happy to install one for you. This is important in that the hour meter will tell you when you have reached 100 hours and the need to have the boat serviced. A 100 hour service should be done annually if you have running your boat at different times during the year and do not reach 100 hours. In addition, if your boat will not be used for a 2 month or greater time period, you need to seriously consider summerizing or "pickling" your boat motor. This prevents rust from setting in, corrosion, sticking parts and fuel problems. CBM will also need to "break-out" your boat from its summarized state so that it is ready for your fun on the water.
I have just covered with you the major service points:
Check out our web site in the service section for a detailed breakdown of these services. CBM offers a full array of technical services including Mercury, Yamaha, Bombardier and Mercuriser work, summarization, winterization, general maintenance, re-powers, shrink wrap, fiberglass repair, electronics installation and boat detailing. We have easy to use recommended service sheets for your motor as well as service description sheets. We want to be able to help you know when and what service you need and what the service elements are. Honesty Integrity and Customer Service at a fair value are the operation guidelines for our service department. We want to take care of you!
New P.E.M. (Poly Extruded Matting) bunk matting is being laid down on every bunk and wash rack in the marina. The yellow textured matting protects the gel-coating and is non-marking. It allows water to drain through and air to circulate keeping the wood dry and reducing algae growth. The matting is resistant to environmental and chemical degradation, resisting alkalis, acids, ozone, waterborne chemicals and does not leach plasticizer. We received feedback from our last customer survey that you would like better matting material to protect your investment. We heard you and responded by putting top of the line material down. This is a major investment in our facilities.
CBM purchased new cushions and umbrella for the deck furniture and added new welcome mats at the door and new extinguishing material in our outside ashtrays. this summer we will be exploring expanding the parking area and replacing section of the dock and deck. We are also pursuing the Clean Marina Status. This status certifies that we are in total compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations. You will notice that we have put out recycle bins as part of the program. We also heard this same request for recycle bins in our customer survey. We will also be updating our computer hardware, network and software so that we can better serve you and manage our relationship with you our customer.
As you see, CBM is moving forward in an effort to become the premier marina in the Marco Island/Naples market. We pride ourselves on being a showcase marina, conveniently located on Marco Island offering superb service. All of this equates to a quality experience with excellent value. Be on the watch for additional improvements and upgrades.
This letter and future communication will be available on our web site. The customer survey results from last fall will be posted on the web site and we will be conducting a second customer survey this fall whose results will also be posted.
We have also posted our service recommendation sheets on-line in the service section. These sheets break down what we exactly do for a 20 Hour Service, 100 Hour Service, Summerization and Break-Out.
Don't forget that we have an on-line ship store with thousands of products available, shipped directly to your home or Cedar Bay Marina.
We feel that Cedar Bay Marina offers you, our customer, the greatest flexibility, the highest service, integrity, value and great location. We consider it a privilege to have you as our customer and we look forward to continue serving you in the future. Stay tuned as we update you on new services and enhancements this season!
Sincerely,
Scott Hopkins
